In website flipping as with any other career or business, the best person to give out tips about it is one who has “been there, done that.” Jay Piecha, or “Suite J” to his many clients is one such expert. He started off as a web designer but moved on to being a website flipper, designing and creating niche sites then selling them for a profit. Many of his startup sites can be found on the Warrior Forum.
I was given the chance of talking to him and he was gracious enough to offer some tips that I’m sure many of those just starting out would really welcome. Here are the 5 main points that Suite J shared on the business of selling startup sites and website flipping in general.
1. Unless you have much passion for what you do, you’ll be able to find other ways to make money.
As mentioned earlier, Jay was previously into full-time freelance web designing and while he did find some satisfaction in it, he soon found out that there were a lot of other ways to increasing one’s income through online ventures. And with his flair for design, one of these potential methods was through making niche websites. For Jay, another benefit of going into website flipping over that of designing for clients is that he had a lot more control over what he wanted to make without anyone telling him what he should do. Plus, when you build startup sites, you can even sell the same types of sites over and over again.
2. Offer the highest level of customer service.
Startup niche sites tend to be more appealing and saleable to individuals who are still new to online marketing. As such, they could require extra assistance in getting things going. But even with the sheer number of experienced Internet marketers these days, it’s still tough finding someone who can offer that help. Be ready to share what knowledge you have to potential customers and they will not forget you on their way up.
3. Don’t try to do everything yourself.
We can’t be good in everything, so with those skills that aren’t your best, find individuals who can do it. Jay’s expertise is on design. When flipping websites however, you would need a complete package so for the writing needs of his sites, he outsources the work.
4. Try to be different from everyone else.
One foolproof way of making it big in site flipping is having the ability to successfully associate yourself with a specific niche. Come up with resourceful ways of doing things and offer value-added services that are not easy to come by.. For instance, how about including some high-quality articles together with the website you are selling? That’s an offer most potential buyers would not turn down. But you have to innovate as often as possible because remember, others can do the same thing too..
5. Build a list.
This may seem to hold a lot of value for a starter, but Jay emphasizes that this could be one of your most important weapons in building your network of followers or potential customers. To be able to send out messages which are tailor-made for the subscribers you are targetting, you should deliberate having two lists: one for those who have actually purchased a website from you, and another for those who may do so in the future.
If you are new to flipping websites, these 5 tips from a succesful website flipper should go a long way in helping you get rolling in the business.
